redmi note 8 pro miui 12

Xiaomi has released about the Redmi Note 8 Pro to the current MIUI 12 global stable beta update rollout. The Chinese OEM is concerned that Redmi Note 8 Pro owners who are not part of the Mi Pilot program may damage their smartphones by installing the MIUI 12 update via another unofficial route.

Xiaomi’s new skin on top of Android, MIUI 12 is the hottest thing in the Xiaomi Community right now. While some devices have officially been updated to the new build of MIUI, many haven’t received the much-anticipated update yet but active development and testing is on-going. More on the status of MIUI 12 here.

Yesterday, we saw Xiaomi roll out the Stable Beta of MIUI 12 for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. The update was meant to go out only to users who had successfully applied for a slot on the company’s Mi Pilot program.

“Distinguished members of the Mi Community, the Arab world, the owners of the Redmi Note 8 Pro  phone, please do not attempt to install the MIUI 12 Stable Beta beta as long as you are not  affiliated with the Mi Pilots laboratory team.   You might search online and find unofficial ways to install the version, but beware that these   unofficial methods may completely damage your phone. The severity of the modification has   already been mentioned in the Redmi Note 8 Pro”

The Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12 Stable Beta update is only available for the global variant. It comes with build number V12.0.0.4 QGGMIXM and weighs 632MB in size.

It is currently rolling to units with beta authorized Mi Account. Normally, any user can install any type of MIUI build on their Xiaomi/Redmi smartphones via custom recovery. However, the same cannot be said for the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

This device codenamed Begonia is one of the infamous phones in the modding community. Due to the MediaTek chipset underneath it, it does not support the usual ‘Download Mode’. Therefore, to flash the factory ROM, users need to boot the handset into EDL mode and also require an authorized Mi account to install stock firmware.

Hence, Xiaomi has strictly warned users to avoid flashing the currently rolling out MIUI 12 Stable Beta update on their Redmi Note 8 Pro if they are not part of the beta program.
